Here’s an overview of what’s on offer in Abersoch and the surrounding area. There’s plenty to do!

There are lots of amazing walks with breath taking views along the peninsular, such as the famous Wales Coast Path as well as numerous shorter walks (we have guide books in the cottage). You are situated just over an hour from Snowdonia national park, so can use the cottage as a base for all kinds of adventures.

There are a number of fantastically contrasting beaches all within a 10-30 minute drive away, where you can park for free, or pay average £2ph to £4pd. Abersoch’s main beach is in walking distance from the cottage. It’s long, sandy and very popular, regularly hosting international sailing events which provide a wonderful spectacle. It is delightfully old fashioned with classic beach huts and plenty of water sport hires & lessons catered for. Whether you fancy a go at sailing, kayaking, paddle boarding or water ski-ing it’s all here, really laid back and a lot of fun. You can also take day boat trips to sail around Bear Gryll’s St Tudwal island and Bardsey Island famous for its wildlife, rugged scenery and spiritual history. Abersoch Golf Club overlooks the beach and is welcoming to all.

Close by is the spectacular, rugged and wild Hell’s Mouth beach which has its own surf school running regular lessons for beginners and groups. Port Ceiriad is another beauty where you are more likely to adventure on your own terms, and Llanbedrog is perfect for family days out with a lovely cafe, arts centre hosting Wales’s oldest art gallery and a riding centre if you would like to adventure by horseback. There are plenty of other day trips you can organise, such as trips to Conway Castle, venturing on the world famous narrow gauge Ffestiniog Railway, or zip lining for the more adventurous!

There are plenty of great places to eat and drink in Abersoch and the surrounding area ranging from laid back beach bars to posh restaurants and everything in between. Some take bookings, others are walk-up, due to Covid. There’s also a great chippy, Crust Pizza for takeaways and the infamous Two Islands who serve amazing coffee, cakes and homemade ice cream.

Our favourite pubs are The Sun Inn a 5 minute walk from the cottage which is a classic old boozer with a great beer garden and the Ty Coch Inn in Porthdinllaen
reached by walking across the incredible golf club headland from Morfyn Nefyn, or along the beach from the National Trust car park.
It’s a simply stunning location and voted one of the top ten beach bars in the world.
